J. (Jan) Zwiers has been appointed mayor of the municipality of Midden-Drenthe. The appointment will take effect on September 5, 2023.

Mr Zwiers (57 years old) is a member of the VVD. He is currently an alderman in the municipality of Hoogeveen.
Cees Bijl (PvdA) is currently acting mayor of Central Drenthe.
