New malware hijacks sometiles

Malware spreads around the world by hijacking devices.

Security company Check Point has discovered a new virus designed to take over accounts of social media services. The virus has already infected at least 5,000 devices in 20 countries.

According to Check Point, the virus, named Electron Bot, is spreading in the name of popular games like Temple Run and Subway Surfer in Microsoft’s official app store. These apps can look genuine and have dozens of positive reviews.

– The malware acts as a backdoor, allowing the attacker to take complete control of the victim’s device, Check Point said in a statement.

Electron Bot allows an attacker to manage the victim’s sometiles, such as Facebook, Google, and Soundcloud accounts, create new accounts, log in to the accounts, and comment and like on others ’posts. It is virtually impossible for the victim to notice that the malware in question is installed on the device.

Check Point shared three tips for avoiding malware:

  1. Avoid apps with few ratings
  2. Choose apps that have a lot of good and reliable ratings and little scatter in the ratings
  3. Keep an eye on the name of the application and watch out for an application with a different name

Check Point advises removing games from the following publishers:

Lupy games

Crazy 4 games

Jeuxjeuxkeux games

Akshi games

Goo Games

Bizzon Case
