Handover of the new logistics center in Bedburg to Mode Logistik
After the first work in Bedburg started in the summer of last year, the construction work has now been completed. The new logistics center has officially been handed over by the client Horn Grundbesitz KG to the tenant Mode Logistik GmbH & Co. KG, a subsidiary of the Peek & Cloppenburg* Düsseldorf Group. The new location is an investment in the optimization of the supply chain and the future of stationary fashion retail.
The building of the new logistics center, including all trades, was completed on schedule for the handover on July 15. Andreas Löckmann, head of the construction department at Horn Grundbesitz KG: “Despite the challenges in terms of delivery difficulties and the unstable weather during the construction phase, construction was completed on time. It is a special moment for us to be able to hand it over to Mode Logistik. The project was a great success for us, not least because of the good cooperation with the city.”
Interior work started
The first work on the interior could already start before the official handover. For example, the construction of the intralogistics with the installation of the storage and automation technology is currently in full swing. The construction work inside the building is expected to be completed by the end of the year. This is followed by detailed tests of the built-in intralogistics. Marco Rebohm, Managing Director of Mode Logistik: “The state-of-the-art building is tailored precisely to our requirements, so that we can provide even better logistical support for the stores of the P&C Group in the future, true to our motto ‘We move fashion’. We are already looking forward to moving in here in the coming year and are now taking the opportunity to design the inner workings optimally for us.” Parallel to the interior design, the development of a new warehouse management system is progressing, which is to be put into operation at the same time as the Bedburg location and at that serves to optimally map the internal flow of materials.
The logistics center on Sany Allee in Bedburg has a floor space of around 76,000 square meters and features, among other things, an energy-efficient design. The sustainability claim is particularly evident in the photovoltaic system placed on the roof, which produces sustainable electricity for self-consumption. The project has been registered for gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). With the new location, the logistics company is investing in optimizing the supply chain. In this way, it will further strengthen the stationary trade of the Düsseldorf fashion retailer Peek & Cloppenburg, so that the sales outlets can offer exactly the goods they need locally at any time. In this context, Mode Logistik will take care of all goods processing for the P&C group of companies in the new logistics center in Bedburg for the sales outlets connected to the location. The fashion company is thus bundling central functions at the Bedburg location in order to further increase their efficiency.
Numerous jobs are created
Operational work in Bedburg is scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2023. Some of the recruiting for the numerous positions has already begun. The first positions have been filled, and many others will be advertised one after the other.
