Work on the lock gates has been going on since early November and is almost nearing completion. Today and tomorrow the four new upward ebb and flow gates of the Mercators lock will be put into place. The new doors were made in the Netherlands and must ensure that the water level in the lock can be maintained. From mid-February, ships can sail to and from the Mercator dock again. The total cost for the renewal of the lock gates is approximately 1.9 million euros.
