Jimi Hendrix’s new live album Los Angeles Forum – April 26, 1969 will be released November 18th digitally, on 2LP and as a 2CD set. The live recording of “I Don’t Live Today” will be released this Thursday (September 8th).
The record will be released to commemorate Hendrix’s 80th birthday, which he would have celebrated on November 27th. The concert at the Los Angeles Forum in 1969 is one of his legendary performances. Among other things, he performed “Purple Haze” and a 17-minute medley of “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)” and Cream’s “Sunshine Of Your Love”, with which he closed the show. Hendrix was joined by Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass. Her performance will be heard in full for the first time.
“JIMI”: An Autobiography About Hendrix
Los Angeles Forum – April 26, 1969 was recorded by Wally Heider and Bill Halverson and remixed by Hendrix’s longtime producer and sound engineer Eddie Kramer. The album was produced by Hendrix’ sister Janie, Eddie Kramer and John McDermott, who manages his musical estate. The book “JIMI”, which sheds light on Hendrix’s biography and contains quotes from Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl and other musicians, is also to be published in November. However, the release will only take place in the United States for the time being. It is not yet known when the book will also be available in Germany.
