The Urus, Lamborghini’s record-breaking SUV starts again from the 20,000 units produced since 2018 which confirmed it as the best-selling model of the Taurus brand in the shortest amount of time. The second generation will be unveiled in California at Pebble Beach on the sidelines of the Concorso d’Eleganza which takes place on August 21, probably on the 19th. Over the years to make room for Urus, Lamborghini had to revise the Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters which it went from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters with the introduction of the assembly line for the SUV.

The SUV project required 500 more workers. Since its launch in 2018, the record-breaking Lambo has been the protagonist of several companies around the planet. Urus, in fact, set the ice speed record on Lake Baikal in Russia and climbed the world’s highest road in India at 5,800 meters above sea level. But other companies are already planned for the new Urus.

The brand has not yet gone into details, but from the rumors it seems that the new Usus will present itself as a worse variant not only because it will adopt the stylistic details of the Huracan Tecnica, but for an increase in power of the V8 of 4,000 cc. Only later will the plug-in arrive, which will debut only at the end of 2023 together with the electrified Aventador.

The SUV represents 61% of Lamborghinis sold and is therefore the most popular model of the brand, so much so as to contribute to the historic sales record in the first half of 2022. “We have reached the end of an exceptional semester – commented Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini Automobili – despite the continuing uncertainty caused by the geopolitical situation ”.

“The prospects – added Winkelmann – are equally positive with orders already acquired which actually cover the entire production of 2023”. Certainly the new Urus will still be the top model of the Lamborghini offering and is announced as a competitor of the Purosangue, the high-wheeled model that Ferrari will present in September. The challenge widens, but the Urus is ready to face it.
