Regional entrepreneurs, politicians, administrators and ‘ordinary’ citizens believe that in order to improve access to the north-east of the Netherlands, a direct rail connection must be created between Enschede and Groningen. The Lower Saxony Line is to become a new ‘iron backbone’ for this area.
