There are fences on the lawn along Tasmania Street in Oosterheem. They form a large rectangle with a sign in the middle that says children’s playground. What exactly is going to happen there?

Twelve-year-old Jelte Petri’s wish will soon come true. He started a signature campaign for a new skate park near his school, the Noorderlicht, in Oosterheem.
Jelte fixed it
The fences are opposite the Oosterheem sports playground, with a climbing wall, basketball court, football cage and outdoor gym. Jelte felt that there were too few play facilities in the neighborhood for children his age. He delivered the more than 600 signatures collected from local residents to the municipality. He spoke before the municipal council and received an amount with which the skate park could be built.
Have fun playing in the spring
Work on the new skate park has now started. There will be curves and slopes, and the necessary plants, such as hawthorn, Gelderland rose, privet and sweetgum trees. Children with skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes and inline skates can play there from spring and teach each other new tricks.
