They were supposed to be illegally sold on Ebay classifieds for 5000 euros. But animal rights activists alerted the police and rescued the animals.
Now the two fox cubs have found a new home.
The seven-week-old animals moved to the wildlife and species protection center in the Pinneberg district (Schleswig-Holstein) a few days ago.
The polar red fox hybrids still live in a separate area. Next up are vaccinations and a wormer. Once the little ones have survived this, they move to a large enclosure. The little foxes will probably be allowed to stay here forever.
“The animals are much too thin and have to be nursed back to health first. They still get rearing milk because they were separated from their mother too early,” explains animal activist Stefan Klippstein (38).
He hired a decoy and brought the animal dealer from the Elbe-Elster district to Berlin. The police then confiscated the animals on May 17 in Wedding.
