Chief critic Dietmar Hamann also dealt heavily against FC Bayern after the 0-1 defeat against Lazio Rome in the Champions League round of 16.
“The biggest problem is that Bayern don’t have the unity at the moment to pull themselves out of difficult situations together. You have to say it very clearly: the team is down at the moment,” wrote the former national player and current TV expert in his ” Sky” column.
A team thrives on helping each other, emphasized Hamann, “but that hasn’t been the case since the winter break. Everyone is busy with themselves instead of taking responsibility.”
Hamann also analyzed that coach Thomas Tuchel “doesn’t have many arguments” for continuing to work at FC Bayern.
The 50-year-old calculated that Tuchel lost as many times in 43 games as head coach, namely ten times, as his predecessor Julian Nagelsmann lost in twice the number of games. “You have a few more points in the Bundesliga than last season, but the football is not good and you shouldn’t forget that top-class players like Kane and Kim came in last summer.”
Tuchel currently only has the “hope that things will get better,” Hamann made it clear.
With a view to the possible exit from the Champions League and a “business as usual” with Tuchel, he now sees those responsible at FC Bayern as having a duty.
They would have to “decide whether they trust the coach to turn the score around 0-1 in the second leg,” said Hamann. “You can only see how united a team is in failure. What the Bayern fans saw in the last two games in Leverkusen and Rome gives them little reason to hope for improvement.”
According to consistent reports, Tuchel does not have to fear dismissal for the time being. According to “Sky” reporter Kerry Hau, the three upcoming Bundesliga games at VfL Bochum, against RB Leipzig and at SC Freiburg will point the way for his future.
