New feature enables targeted management of device links
In November, Netflix announced the launch of a new feature. With the help of a remote logout option, users can now manage the devices linked to their account more easily and better. Individual devices that are linked to your user account can now be removed from it, even if direct access to the device is not guaranteed. Previously it was only possible to remove all devices linked to the account.
Increased account security
Netflix is introducing a “frequently requested feature” by users, according to the company, and also promises to improve account security. The new feature is available to all users worldwide, regardless of the device or operating system used. With the new function, subscribers can remove devices from their account that they have only used temporarily and therefore do not want them to be permanently linked to their user account. As an example of use, Netflix gave use when traveling, in the context of which one logged in to vacation accommodations via a third-party device, but did not log out.
Netflix plans to change its terms of service
In addition to increasing account security, the introduction of this new function is also likely to be linked to a planned change in Netflix’s terms of use and contract. As technology blog Engadget reports, next year Netflix plans to start charging additional fees if the service is used outside of the account holder’s immediate household. The introduction of the new Remote Logout feature allows subscribers to remove unwanted linked devices before they can incur costs to the account holder.
