The Hamburg and Amsterdam based IT service provider Fashion Cloud has teamed up with partners such as Zalando, De Bijenkorf, Boozt, Wehkamp, Breuninger and EK Fashion to launch a new event: The Fashion Transparency Summit is scheduled to take place on November 22nd in the Filmmuseum Eye in Amsterdam. His goal: to build a strong network so that topics such as transparency through sustainability data come into focus and a basis for collaboration can be established.
“With the Fashion Transparency Summit, we want to create a hands-on event where brands and retailers are inspired to collaborate more easily with each other. Sustainability data and data sharing are topics that should not end up in manual Excel spreadsheets. At the same time we create a strong network that can implement these ideas. We look forward to an exciting day, hands-on learning and our guests,” comments Alies ter Kuile, CEO and co-founder of Fashion Cloud, in a press release.
More transparency through sustainability data
In particular, the questions of which sustainability data are relevant, what certain regulations mean for companies and how they can quickly increase transparency are examined.
The program consists of keynote lectures, master classes and panel discussions as well as networking opportunities. Leading retailers should share expertise and experiences, but also present well-founded insights, best practices and concrete solutions for current and future challenges.
Among the confirmed speakers so far are Richard Lawson, Team Lead Circular & Sustainable Products at Zalando, Chiel van Leewen, Head of Sustainability Business at De Bijenkorf and Julian Asslinger, Head of Sustainability, Innovation & Responsible Communication at Marc O’Polo , and Pernille Storgaard Møller, Sustainability Business Partnering Manager, and Pernille Elisa Kramer Schacht, Senior Project Specialist Bestseller Sustainability, from the Bestseller Group. Politicians should also contribute to the discussion.
According to the organizers, accessible information on the sustainability of articles in the form of product data, such as material composition, is a decisive factor in meeting legal regulations at national and international level and in meeting increasing customer requirements. They are needed to measure sustainability goals, set up sustainability reports, comply with supply chain due diligence and producer responsibility, and avoid greenwashing.
“The Fashion Transparency Summit is a unique opportunity to decisively advance collaboration in the fashion industry and to find solutions to the challenges we all face together,” says Heidi Korterink van der Vegte, CSR Manager at online retailer Wehkamp, in the message.
The one-day Fashion Transparency Summit will take place on November 22 from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm at the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam.
