In her Portuguese homeland, Carminho is already considered one of the greatest voices of our time – and her unmistakable fado singing is also well received internationally. Her new album “Portuguesa” has now been announced for March 3, 2023. The first single “O quarto (fado Pagem)” can already be heard from it.
Carminho brings strength, passion and depth to the Portuguese musical style of fado – with her penetrating understanding of the profound traditional genre, she takes her listeners on a fateful journey. At the same time, she succeeds in creating new classics that bear her personal stamp. Carminho explores different combinations within the canon, reconsiders the form and moves in the familiar element as surely as a fish in water.
Carminho’s Portuguesa will be released on March 3rd, 2023
“Portuguesa” contains 14 songs and was produced by Carminho himself. The musician collaborated with other songwriters on her latest project, but is also responsible for some of the lyrics and traditional fado compositions. Speaking about the work on the album, she says: “’Portuguesa’ is the result of ten concentrated days at Namouche Studios in March 2022, but the previous two years also flowed into it. I’m always looking for that special giddiness where I can find my identity with new combinations of the same basic ingredients. This is my story, my origins, my influences and the music I find myself in.”
