Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has made a critical status change for the Ziraat Turkish Cup. In its official announcement, the Federation stated that the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system will be used in the group stage of the tournament starting from the 2025-2026 season.
In the TFF statement,
“With the decision taken at the meeting of the Board of Directors dated 15.12.2025, an amendment was made to the Turkish Cup Competitions Status. With the new regulation, starting from the Ziraat Turkish Cup group competitions, the online VAR system will be applied in accordance with the Football Game Rules and VAR Protocol.” statements were included.
With this decision, VAR will be used for the first time in the Turkish Cup, starting from the group matches. Previously, VAR application was only activated in matches in the elimination stage.
