Deal with resale participation
Arsenal have agreed a summer transfer of goalkeeper Matt Turner to New England Revolution, pending medical checks. The newcomer is expected to set up camp with the Gunners at the end of June.
The releasing club from Major League Soccer did not provide any information on the amount of the fee for the 27-year-old. According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal must pay 6.7 million US dollars (equivalent to 5.9 million euros), a further 3 million US dollars in bonuses (2.6 million euros) are also possible. New England Revolution has also secured a 10 percent resale royalty.
Turner was voted MLS goalkeeper of the 2021 season and was a key part of the US national team that won the Gold Cup last summer. This transfer is likely to have an impact on the future of Bernd Leno (29), who lost his place at the beginning of the season to Aaron Ramsdale (23), who bought 28 million. The contract of the German international, who, according to information from Transfermarkt.us, received a request from Newcastle United, ends in 2023.
