New documentary series about the murder of John Lennon

It was December 8th, 1980: Mark David Chapman fired five rounds from his revolver. Four of them hit John Lennon in the back and shoulders. The shots ultimately cost the musician his life. The murder of the Beatles star still shocks the whole world to this day. Now the three-part documentary series “John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial”, narrated by actor Kiefer Sutherland, will re-examine the case and provide clarity – if any questions remain unanswered.

The shooting happened in front of Lennon’s partner Yoko Ono and numerous fans who were milling about in front of the Dakota apartment building in New York. The artist was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, but had no chance. Chapman turned himself in and was immediately arrested – he must have been smiling. The attacker suffered from severe psychological problems. His love and veneration for the icon turned into hatred over the years, which ultimately led him to his actions.

According to the official description, the AppleTV documentary is the “most thorough research to date” in the murder case. Not only would exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses and close friends of the musician be shown, conversations were also held with Chapman’s defense lawyers, psychiatrists, investigators and prosecutors. In addition, previously unpublished crime scene photos will be shown in the series. The producers – including David Glover (“9/11: A Day in America”) and Mark Raphael (“Crime and Punishment”) – obtained all the information from the New York police, the parole board and the prosecutor’s office – by relying on American Freedom of Information Act, which allows the press access to all documents. A release date is not yet known.

Most recently, the surviving Beatles members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr announced the re-release of their albums “1962-1966” (“The Red Album”) and “1967-1970” (“The Blue Album”) – including the new and last one Song by the band “Now And Then”. The track is scheduled to be released on November 2nd.
