With the so-called small timetable change on Sunday, Deutsche Bahn is putting the direct connections that have already been announced into operation.

► The city of Chemnitz (Saxony) is reconnected to the long-distance network. Intercity trains between Dresden, Berlin, Rostock and the Baltic Sea coast then stop twice a day and direction in the city, as the railway announced.

► Flensburg, in turn, will have a direct connection to Prague via Hamburg, Berlin and Dresden.

► In addition, Deutsche Bahn is expanding its range of long-distance trains to more than three million seats with longer trains. That was 20 percent more than in the summer of 2019, it said.

“In this way we create enough space for the sharply increasing demand,” said long-distance transport manager Michael Peterson.
