In 1982, the red-haired little Pumuckl first appeared on the screens in German living rooms. Now RTL + is shooting a modern adaptation of the classic under the name “New Stories from Pumuckl”.

Glued to a pot of glue in Master Eder’s workshop, the goblin becomes visible to him. As the “goblin law” prescribes, the otherwise invisible Pumuckl has to stay with the person who has seen him and henceforth becomes Master Eder’s roommate.

The unequal team then experiences various adventures in and around Munich. This is the well-known plot of the children’s show from the 80s. At that time, it was implemented as a combination of live action and animation.

The plot and filming location make for nostalgia

The new edition of the Pumuckl follows exactly this concept. The plot of the first episode also wants to correspond to the model from the 80s. But there is one exception: instead of Master Eder, his nephew is there. He is embodied by Florian Brückner. The cast is expanded by Milan Peschel, Frederic Linkemann, Ilse Neubauer, Katharina Thalbach and Teresa Rizos.

Master Eder’s Munich workshop is said to have been rebuilt true to the original, according to a statement. However, she was brought to the present.

A total of 13 episodes are planned, each 25 minutes long. The broadcast is scheduled for the end of 2023.

The Meister Eder actor Gustl Bayrhammer would have celebrated his 100th birthday in February if he hadn’t already died on April 24, 1993.
