Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3, 2007, just before her fourth birthday, from the holiday flat her parents rented at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz in the Portuguese Algarve. She was never found.
In June 2020, Christian Brückner (44) came into the picture for the first time. He was soon identified as the prime suspect. That trail also eventually came to a dead end, because the German would have had an alibi at the time of the girl’s disappearance. But according to the German newspaper Bild, new details have now surfaced in the investigation that again point in the direction of Brückner.
Pool maintenance
Brückner, who is currently in jail over other allegations, is said to have “very accurate knowledge of the holiday home” because he came there several times to carry out maintenance work, according to investigators. For example, he cleaned the swimming pools of the Ocean Club complex.
There has been no indictment in the Maddie case yet. Whether these new discoveries will change that is not clear.
