New De Hoprank building in Peize completed: ‘A house is built with stones, a home with people and love’

After 2.5 years of construction, the time has come: the new location of De Hoprank in Peize is ready. On Wednesday, Remco Mestebeld, Project Leader of the RoosdomTijhuis construction company, handed over the key to Marcel Kemfers Housing Manager at Interzorg.

This brand new care location is a sustainable building with 64 single apartments and communal areas where it is nice to meet each other. The design and support by healthcare professionals are in line with the perception of the elderly. In the newest part there are 43 apartments that are particularly suitable for people with (beginning) dementia.

The Hoprank was completed more than a month earlier than planned, despite the many corona measures and restrictions that construction also had to deal with. The various companies that participated have worked together more than well and they all wanted the same thing: to build a house where people feel at home. This is also apparent from the canvas that reveals the first stone: ‘With stones one builds a house, with people and love a home.’

Placing that first stone is normally a milestone and worth celebrating. Unfortunately, this did not happen due to the coronavirus and this first stone eventually became the very last stone that RoosdomTijhuis placed. This happened at the end of June, under the supervision of Mr Ansingh, resident of De Hoprank and very involved in the construction. ,,It was great to see how De Hoprank slowly took shape. Especially since I have also worked in construction myself. I could make anything my eyes saw. Something beautiful has now been made here in Peize.”

Joop Jansen, deputy director of RoosdomTijhuis had a surprise for De Hoprank’s clients: a so-called social sofa. This is a work of art bench with a mosaic design. The benches are made in a social working environment and the mosaic stones will be applied in the coming weeks by clients, relatives, employees, volunteers and also local residents. The enormous bench is still bare inside, but will be placed outside in front of De Hoprank as soon as it is covered.
