The shocking betting scandal in football continues to grow. After the referees and club managers, now it is the players’ turn. Striking details about the investigation were shared with the public.
3700 FOOTBALL PLAYERS ON FILE
There are new developments in the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the accusations of “influencing the betting accounts and the outcome of the competition”.
The file, which expanded with the detention of 17 referees, Eyüpspor President Murat Özkaya and former Kasımpaşa president Mehmet Fatih Saraç, now extends to the football players.
According to the news in Sabah, the file containing the names of 3700 football players will reach the Turkish Football Federation (Riva) at the beginning of the week. The shipping process is expected to be completed by Friday.
While it is not yet clear whether there are players from the 4 big clubs in the file, it has been stated that there are mainly players playing in the lower leagues (TFF 1st, 2nd and 3rd League).
THE FINAL STRAIGHT IN THE ZORBAY KÜÇÜK FILE
The file of FIFA licensed referee Zorbay Küçük, who was mentioned within the scope of the investigation, has also come to an end. Küçük claimed that he had not placed a bet and that the account did not belong to him.
In the investigation carried out by TFF, it was revealed that two coupons of 20 liras each were played with Küçük’s TR ID number, but the phone and bank information connected to the account did not belong to him.
The prosecutor’s office is expected to make a statement about Küçük shortly, and then the TFF will make its final decision. If no penalty is given, Zorbay Küçük will start officiating the match again.
