Kendrick Lamar released a new video. In the clip for the single “Count Me Out” from his current album MR.MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS none other than Helen Mirren plays Lamar’s therapist.
After a comparatively light-hearted opening sequence of just under a minute and a half, Mirren asks him: “You texted me at 2 a.m.: ‘I feel like I’m falling’. Why do you feel this way?” Lamar starts to answer, the track starts, Mirren listens with interest.
The video was directed by Lamar himself and Dave Free. Clips for “The Heart Part 5” (not included on the album), “N95”, “We Cry Together” and “Rich Spirit” have previously appeared.
Mild spoiler: Lamar’s MR.MORALE & THE BIG STEPPERS also features prominently in our 2022 year in review and our list of our top 50 albums of the year.
“Dame” Helen Mirren is currently in front of the camera as former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir for the biopic “Golda”.
