No rest at Juventus Turin: There is a risk of a new procedure, sanctions are threatened again. The allegations are mainly about salaries during the corona pandemic.
Juventus Turin is facing another sports legal procedure for allegations of financial offenses and thus possibly new penalties.
The Italian football record champion is accused of having unlawfully booked and concealed salary payments in the millions. The chief prosecutor of the FIGC association, Giuseppe Chiné, filed a complaint in the association court against the club and some of its former top officials.
In essence, it is about this allegation: Juve agreed a salary waiver with its players for the months of March to June 2020 due to the corona pandemic and also included these four months of unpaid salaries in the annual financial statements. The club later paid the footballers – including top earners Cristiano Ronaldo – their salaries, partly due to secret side agreements; but this was concealed from the association.
Juve in another case before the sports court
In addition, Chiné accuses the former Serie A champion of having entered into irregular deals with player advisors and maintained appropriate relationships. In addition, there were agreements with six other Italian clubs to trick the association in transfer activities.
According to media reports, there had recently been considerations of an out-of-court settlement – but a deal did not materialize.
Juventus is already before the sports court because of another cause: the club is said to have falsified the market values of its players for years and thus embellished the balance sheets. The association court has therefore already deducted 15 points in the league for Juve – but the highest Italian sports court suspended the sentence and returned the case to the FIGC court.
This should meet again next Monday and then discuss a – possibly reduced – penalty for the club. It was initially unclear when the new ad would lead to proceedings.
