New chapter: BTS remains a group, but plans solo projects

Whether it’s One Direction, *NSYNC or the Jonas Brothers – boy bands offer everything a fan’s heart desires: flashy clothes, good-looking singers and a heartbreaking break-up. There seems to be no end in sight for K-pop group BTS. They want to focus on solo projects but stay a band.

Fans were shocked when it was reported on June 14 that South Korean boy band BTS would be taking a hiatus. Now management and BTS members spoke up again. They calm down: They will remain active as a group and continue to produce shows like “Run BTS”.

Due to the change in strategy, the band members will also have solo projects. J-Hope is the first. He’ll be the sole headliner at Lollapalooza in July. A new solo mixtape by the 28-year-old is also planned.

Frontman RM disappointed by speculation

After band member Jungkook had already emphasized in a live stream that BTS was not disbanding, RM addressed the public. In a letter, the 27-year-old wrote that he was frustrated and sad. Rumors about the end of the group emerged from an emotional conversation. Here is the letter with an English translation.

“Anyone who’s seen the video will know, just like the song ‘Yet To Come’ suggests, what we really wanted to say is this isn’t the end,” RM wrote. The decision to be honest “as always” led to misunderstandings.
