FC Volendam has a new board led by chairman Jaap Veerman. A striking choice, since Veerman, as chairman of the Supervisory Board, recently dismissed the entire board led by Jan Smit.
Veerman’s fellow board members are Rob Bootsman (technical affairs and secretary) and Simon Hansen (treasurer). Due to their appointment, Veerman and Boatswain are no longer part of the Supervisory Board. Elma de Koekkoek is the new Supervisory Board chairman. Erwin Boelhouwer, Henk Kras Jr. and Kees Mooijer complete the Supervisory Board. Hansen served on the general board until last spring.
In a statement on the FC Volendam website, the board and Supervisory Board indicate that they want to further strengthen the board in the short term and simplify the organization of the club. In addition to a board and a supervisory board, Volendam also has a management board.
Collisions
Over the past year, the Supervisory Board led by Veerman regularly clashed with the previous board. With coach Wim Jonk and his staff members (Team Jonk), they managed to get promoted to the Premier League.
In the meantime, in the eyes of the Supervisory Board, expenditure had risen so high that intervention was inevitable: the entire board was dismissed. Out of dissatisfaction with that decision, Team Jonk drew its conclusions and left. Finally, coach Matthias Kohler left the club.
New trainer
Assistant Michael Dingsdag did the honors for the past two matches. Because he does not have the required papers, the board had to look for a permanent solution. The selection will go to training camp at the beginning of January. On Sunday, January 14, FC Volendam will play the relegation match against Almere City FC
