New campus in Emmen receives millions from the province

The new Greenwise Campus education center in Emmen will receive 6 million euros from the province. The money is intended for the renovation and furnishing of the campus in the former bus depot. Part also goes to knowledge development and training programs.

The University of Groningen, NHL Stenden and Drenthe College announced the plans for the education center in 2021, which is mainly focused on innovation. WO, HBO, MBO and the business community must come together to work on issues surrounding sustainability and technology. The municipality and province are also involved in the project.

“Greenwise Campus must become the place where innovation, research and education come together,” says deputy Willemien Meeuwissen (VVD). “The collaboration between companies and the different educational levels contributes to maintaining and strengthening the innovative power in the region. It also offers students the opportunity to work with highly advanced machines and new technologies.”

The new campus should enable companies to try out the latest technologies. This allows entrepreneurs to gain more knowledge and insight. This also helps to innovate education so that it fits in with work practice.
