New buffer basin in Poperinge

The buffer basin has an area of about 3000 m². The intention is that farmers can use the purified waste water and rainwater to irrigate their fields in times of drought. The water is collected centrally in the buffer basin, where the quality of the water is also closely monitored.

The project was realized with funding from the Leader Westhoek rural development programme. It is financed with European (50%), Flemish (25%) and provincial (25%).
