Truss, elected as the new party leader by members of the Conservative party yesterday, plans to set an average British family’s annual electricity and gas bill at or below the current price level of 1,971 pounds (2,300 euros).
Normally, the energy bill in October would see a price shock of eighty percent to more than 3,500 pounds per year. It is feared that the poorest families in Britain will have to choose between food and heating this winter.
A price mechanism would now be worked on that would avert the massive price increase. The plans would have a price tag of 130 billion pounds.
