The US clothing retailer Levi Strauss & Co. completed the leadership change announced in December on Monday. Michelle Gass took over as CEO as planned, succeeding Chip Bergh, who had led the company for more than twelve years.
The new boss immediately announced two personnel decisions: Chief Marketing Officer Kenny Mitchell and Chief Merchandising Officer Dawn Vitale were promoted to the group’s management team with immediate effect. In the future, under the leadership of Gass, the committee will “set the general direction of the company and make all key strategic, financial and operational decisions,” according to a statement. With the promotions that have now taken place, the company says it wants to advance its plan to align the business model more closely with its brands and its own retail.
At the same time, Gass announced further reinforcements to the management team. The CEO explained that we are currently looking for suitable candidates for the position of Chief Commercial Officer.
