New Austrian label PiaLea relies on slow fashion

A new fashion label from Bergheim, Austria, is dedicated to elegant Italian-style women’s fashion that can be worn every day, but also in the special moments of life. In addition, it should defy the ravages of time and make the wardrobe timeless, versatile and sustainable.

“PiaLea wants to design pieces of clothing that will be worn and loved, that will stand the test of time and continue to bring smiles to faces for years to come, the kind of styles that sisters will ‘borrow’ from their wardrobes – and probably never give it back,” says a statement from PiaLea.

The label was founded by the two sisters Pia and Lea Wendenburg, who combine two very different styles with their brand of the same name. According to the founders, this was “created in the eternal search for clothes to love and for eternity”.

The sisters were exposed to Italian style from a young age, accompanying their parents on sourcing trips for premium brand Dantendorfer. On these trips around the world, they also met artisans whose stories they “soaked up like magician tales,” according to the sisters.

For Autumn/Winter 2022, PiaLea presents a capsule collection of jackets, trousers and skirts that can be combined with a modern women’s suit or worn alone, in subtle colors and with a feminine yet relaxed cut.
