New artwork in Zeebrugge enters into dialogue with…

A construction crane placed the artwork on the roundabout on the western breakwater in Zeebrugge today. And that was a special, yet exciting moment for artist Paul Casaer. The artwork was chosen by the residents in a competition between six artists.

“I was a bit concerned about the scale. I knew it would be a very monumental thing, but here we are in an open space with many, many visual jammers. But I think it’s all not that bad, that the thing does claim its place. This is certainly reassuring,” says the artist.
