The mayor during the premier’s visit: “It is a monument of national interest and will trigger a regeneration plan for the entire Campo di Marte neighborhood”
The ‘new’ Artemio Franchi stadium on paper is already there. Soon, word of the mayor of Florence, Dario Nardella, will be there for all to see. Precisely on 7 March, when the project that won the international competition for the restoration and redevelopment of the structure will be unveiled.
The announcement
–
Nardella did not choose a random moment to announce the ‘X’ date. During the day, in fact, Florence hosted Prime Minister Mario Draghi at the new theater of the Florentine Maggio Musicale, for a meeting on the investments of the PNRR in the city.
THE FUNDS
–
Eight design studios have reached the final stage of ‘selection’ out of a total of thirty. “The renewal of the Franks – explains Nardella – considered a monument of national interest, in turn will trigger a regeneration plan for the entire district, Campo di Marte, which has more than 80 thousand inhabitants, with a total of 450 million euros that will allow us to build the new tramway and new public and green spaces, including services and sports facilities “. The premier himself confirms the investment: “We are redeveloping a historic district such as Campo di Marte – he said – and the Artemio Franchi stadium in Florence”.
The numbers
–
Nardella then made it known that to “cover the entire needs for interventions on the stadium” he will ask for “another 55 million euros from a fund from the Ministry of the Interior for metropolitan cities”. At the window, with an interested gaze, the viola company, which – with its president, Rocco Commisso – had slipped away from the match of the reconstruction of the current system, an intervention thus taken over by the Municipality that is now preparing to reveal the result of the competition .
