Car manufacturer Tesla wants to double its production in Brandenburg. The Oder-Spree district expects the building application to be submitted before the end of this year.

Tesla has just cleared another 70 hectares of forest. The new district budget reveals why:

“The company has announced that it will submit an application to expand the plant at the end of 2022,” the 728-page paper says, “in connection with a further increase in capacity from 500,000 to one million cars per year.”

To put it plainly: a second production hall is to be built next to the first. Like in the Tesla factory in Shanghai.

The expansion of the car factory will take time: currently only 2000 Tesla Model Y per week leave the Brandenburg plant.
