New Altingerhof building in Beilen officially opened: “Residents have a lot of room to move in the homes”

It took a while, but the result is there. The new construction of Residential Care Location Altingerhof has been completed and Friday was the official opening. At the invitation of Icare, the Schipper family planted a tree, under the watchful eye of a satisfied alderman Dennis Bouwman (PvdA/GL).

Mrs. Schipper lives in Altingerhof, her husband was also present at the opening, as well as her son Jan Schipper and granddaughter Linda. Linda works in Altingerhof and her daughter Milou, Mrs. Schipper’s great-granddaughter, was also present at the opening.

Nice result

Continuous consultation and close cooperation between the care organization, the client council, the architect, the contractors and other parties ensured a good result. An energy-efficient building, good for the wallet and the environment, but with residents’ welfare first. The indoor climate is very comfortable. Solar panels provide the power for the heat pumps. Sustainable solutions were also considered when demolishing the old buildings. For example, the contractor recycled 90% of the removed materials. In addition, the buildings are future-proof.

Home is a home

A house is a home. This applies all the more for residents with vulnerable health, for whom Icare offers housing, well-being and care. The new building has therefore been built with special attention to be a home for its residents.

Altingerhof consists of 4 residential buildings. Each building has 20 spacious and bright apartments and 2 cosily furnished living rooms. Each living room has an open kitchen, so preparing the meal provides extra homeliness. Each living room also has its own terrace, adjacent to the park-like garden. “Residents have a lot of room to move in the homes,” says residential care manager Frans Horstink.

Safe environment

“A pleasant home for, among others, people with dementia. That was our starting point for the new building. These residents need a safe environment, with as much space as possible to go where they want. The fact that they can go outside independently gives them peace of mind. In addition, due to the small-scale design of the buildings, healthcare workers have a good overview from the living rooms. That also gives peace of mind and we see that reflected in the friendly atmosphere in the house.”
