Leonard Cohen’s best-of album Hallelujah & Songs From His Albums, featuring the previously unreleased live version of Hallelujah, taken from his Glastonbury Festival performance in 2008, has been released digitally on 3 June 2022. But that’s not all: From October 14, 2022, “Hallelujah & Songs From His Albums” will be available on CD and on blue vinyl as a double LP.
New album and documentary
Leonard Cohen’s new career-spanning album is entitled Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah & Songs From His Albums. It offers 17 songs by the songwriter, musician, writer and painter, including classics such as “Suzanne”, “Bird On The Wire”, “Chelsea Hotel # 2” or “Ho By Fire”.
The album is part of the documentary Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song. The documentation is based on Cohen’s personal notebooks, photos and notes, as well as interview recordings. The viewer gets an insight into the career of the musician in the almost two-hour film. Friends of the artist such as Adrienne Clarkson or Larry “Ratso” Sloman have their say. Also, fellow musicians like Judy Collins, Brandi Carlisle and Rufus Wainwright discuss the role Cohen’s hit single “Hallelujah” played in their lives.
Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song will be released in German cinemas on October 13, 2022.
