New Ajax star Henderson can make his debut on Almeloos artificial grass

Jordan Henderson has received his work permit. The Amsterdam club shared a video on social channels showing the English acquisition in training clothes and entering the training field of De Toekomst.

Obtaining the work permit for Jordan Henderson took a while because the United Kingdom is no longer part of the European Union. As a result, a professional football player from outside the EU must have a so-called GVVA (combined residence and work permit).

Ajax took over Henderson on a free transfer from Al Ettifaq last week. The 33-year-old midfielder saw the won home match against RKC Waalwijk (4-1) from the stands.

Now that the work permit for the 81-time English international has been completed, you would expect him to make his debut for Ajax this weekend. However, there are some possible spoilsports. For example, Heracles plays its home matches on artificial grass. Not really ideal for the older Henderson who does not have much experience with this surface.

Furthermore, the physical condition of the new Amsterdam star is unclear. Henderson last played on December 28. On behalf of his previous employer, the Saudi Al-Ettifaq, he played the competition match with Al-Hazem (1-1).

The kick-off is in Almelo on Saturday at 9 p.m
