New age limit for Whatsapp

Meta allows younger people to use Whatsapp than before.

In recent years, the age limit for Whatsapp has been 16 years. The age limit was 13 for a long time, but in 2018 it was raised by three years. The reason for raising the age limit at that time was the European Union’s data protection regulation.

However, the age limit is about to change again, because from April 11 everyone over the age of 13 can access the instant messaging application owned by social media giant Meta.

The reason for calculating the age limit is to update WhatsApp’s terms of use and privacy policies to reflect the new digital services regulation of the European Union.

Outside the EU, the age limit for Whatsapp has always been 13 years.

The age limit for Facebook and Instagram is also 13 in the EU.
