‘Never again at the table with that man’

Patty Brard has been invited to join Jeroen Pauw’s talk show next week, but she immediately declined. “I never want to sit at the table with that man again.”

We have regularly seen Patty Brard as a sidekick to Khalid & Sophie, but now that Khalid Kasem is currently sitting on the couch with a black bar in front of his eyes and has been replaced by Jeroen Pauw, the TV diva is calling it a day. At least: on the evenings that Jeroen presents, we will never, ever see Patty there again.

Woman behind Patty

Years and years ago, when she was still in conflict with her daughter Priscilla Nasi, Patty was a guest of Jeroen Pauw to promote some program. “At one point he says to me: ‘Who is that woman behind you?’ I think: that woman behind me? I think: there is a woman behind me,” she says Show news.

Who was behind her? “Well, it was a very large photo of Priscilla. He said, ‘Do you even remember who that is? How long have you seen that one?’ And then I thought: I can now be tempted to get very out of my way, but I then said very calmly that I was there to promote a program and not to share my private life.”

Never at the table again

Patty has since been done with Jeroen for good. “That had such an impact on me that I simply can no longer sit at a table with that man.”

Colleague Bart Ettekoven: “People don’t know what impact that has on live television. You have to decide at that moment: what do I do?”

Patty: “Besides that, no one knows what the situation really is. Fortunately, that becomes clear in this series (about Patty on Videoland, ed.) and I think everyone will scratch their heads at some point.”

Invitation from Peacock

Colleague William Rutten wonders whether Jeroen ever makes an attempt to speak to Patty. “Have you ever been asked to sit there at the table?”

Patty: “Next week, but I’m not going. Hahaha. No, I don’t.”

Bart: “I actually don’t like him. Now if someone is civilized and doesn’t like these kinds of jokes…

Patty: “Sorry, but: ‘Look at that woman behind you, do you know her?’”

Bart: “That’s why I say: I don’t like him.”

Back against the wall

Dyantha Brooks would be very pleased if Patty were to go. “Patty, shouldn’t you do it right now and also tell him: ‘That was such an unpleasant moment for me, that I was actually put with my back against the wall’?”

Patty: “He said to me afterwards: ‘Sorry I had to do it that way, but I had to ask that question.’ But it’s also about the tone. It’s always the tone that makes the music and this was just a really nasty tone. I know that our friend Benedicte Ficq was also at the table at the time and he only said this to me: ‘Well responded.’”

Acceleration

It has created a friendship between the two ladies, says Patty. “From there I became very friends with Benedicte and he then took care of the whole situation, which allowed me to see my mother again and the situation with my daughter accelerated.”

Dyantha: “So it was good for something that you sat there that evening.”

Patty: “Exactly, so I’ll leave it as is.”
