The lush boom years are over. The capital must come out of crisis mode – back to normal spending levels.

Finance Senator Stefan Evers (43, CDU) assumes that expenditure in the next budget in 2026/27 will decrease by around 3 billion euros.

First of all, the Senate has decided on high investments (over 9 percent of all expenditure) for the coming years.

► New construction of the Jahn-Sportpark stadium (97 million)

► Renewal of Zehlendorf Town Hall (70 million)

► Renovation of House III of the Tegel JVA (53 million)

► New construction of bank reinforcement from Elsenbrücke to Britzer connecting canal (98 million)

► New construction of a rescue service academy for the fire department in Tegel (208 million)

► New building of the German Heart Center at the Charité (521 million)

► Renovation and basic repairs of the Komische Oper (479 million)

The largest individual share until 2027 is school construction at around 4 billion euros. Evers: “Priorities must also be set when it comes to investments.”
