The Netzhoppers KW-Bestensee have suffered a setback after two previous wins in the intermediate round of the volleyball league.
At the Grizzlys Giesen, the Brandenburgers lost 0:3 (26:28, 24:26, 18:25). In front of 1300 spectators in Hildesheim, a 2-0 set lead was also within the realm of possibility for the guests. With eleven points, coach Tomasz Wasilkowski’s team remains third in their group of five.
The Netzhoppers had plenty to talk about after the first sentence. Their anger unleashed on the team of referees, who awarded the Gieseners a highly controversial point to 27:26 when the score was 26:26. Setter Byron Keturakis was so upset about the obvious wrong decision that he saw the red card. As a result, the guests started the second round with a 0:1 deficit.
The Netzhoppers had previously failed to claim the first set after a hard-fought 23:21 lead. As far as losing a clear lead is concerned, the guests only experienced their low point in the second round. They were 22:16 ahead, but a short time later they couldn’t use two set balls and lost 24:26.
The Netzhoppers’ morale was finally broken towards the end of the third set. Giesen had an easy game in the closing stages against a resigned opponent.
