The water polo players from the Netherlands achieved a home triumph at the European Championships in Eindhoven.
The world champions dethroned the defending champions Spain 8:7 in the final, meaning the record champions secured the gold medal for the sixth time.
Three-time title holders Spain, however, missed their third European Championship success in a row. Greece won bronze after a 7:6 win in the small final against the Italians.
Germany finished the tournament in eleventh place.
