THE HAGUE (dpa-AFX) – In view of the Ukraine conflict, the Netherlands urgently advises its nationals to leave the country if their presence there is not really necessary. The Dutch ambassador in Kiev recommended this to compatriots at an online meeting on Friday, the NOS broadcaster reported. For Dutch people who want to leave Ukraine, the embassy is setting up an emergency base in the west of the country in Lviv near the Polish border, for example for issuing emergency documents and other help.
According to NOS, a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry in The Hague emphasized that the travel warning for Ukraine had not been tightened. There, Dutch people without a compelling reason to be present are already recommended to leave the Ukraine. Traveling to the border region with Russia and Belarus is strictly discouraged, as it is dangerous. The Netherlands could probably not help nationals in Ukraine with problems./evs/DP/men
