Netflix turns Herald disaster into TV series

After the mass in the Sint-Donaaskerk in Zeebrugge, a flower tribute was paid to the memorial plaque for the victims of the shipwreck. Several authorities laid a wreath. Some of the first aid workers were also there.

With 193 deaths, it is the largest maritime disaster in our history. The ship made the crossing to the British Dover with buses, cars and trucks on board, and about six hundred passengers. That evening the bow doors of the ferry were not closed when sailing. The water poured in en masse and the Herald capsized.

Netflix is ​​preparing a TV series about the shipwreck. For this purpose, the production company appeals to the Zeebrugge Party Committee, which organizes the annual official commemoration. The party committee was asked by the film production for a list of names of those who played a role in the rescue. The association hopes that it will not be a spectacle.
