Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is one of the most-watched series on Netflix ever. It tells the life story of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994), who killed at least seventeen men and boys. Despite the good figures, the series also received criticism from, among others, relatives of victims of Dahmer. Director Ryan Murphy said he reached out to them while he was still working on the series, but got no response from anyone.
Victim Support Netherlands even called on Netflix to remove the series, because it had received a “substantial number of complaints”. People would be bothered by how the series portrayed Dahmer’s victims. Netflix said in a response that it would not respond to Victim Support’s request.
