The renowned Spanish journalist and comedian Nerea Perez de las Heras faces an arduous road to recovery after a tragic maritime accident happened on July 23. Nerea, who has gained notoriety on the Spanish scene for his monologue “feminism for dummies“, she went through a series of circumstances that put her life in danger and led to an inevitable change in her existence.

In a critical condition, she was rescued from the water and managed to apply a tourniquet to herself. The effects of the accident have been devastating: after three emergency surgeries and a failed bypass, Nerea Pérez de las Heras had to undergo amputation of part of her right leg. She spent six days in the resuscitation unit of the Son Espases hospital in Mallorca, where she received continuous medical interventions.

In an emotional post on her Instagram profile, Nerea Pérez de las Heras shared his experience and expressed his gratitude to all the people who played a crucial role in his recovery. He especially highlighted the work of the medical team at the Mateu Orfila hospital, who “saved my skin”, and the tireless dedication of his partner, Ana.

Nerea Pérez de las Heras, who graduated in Art History from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed a Master’s Degree in Journalism at El País, has worked in various media such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Esquire, as well as collaborating with El País Semanal, SFashion, and others. He currently co-directs the current political podcast “Saldremos mejor” with the comedian Inés Hernand.
