From street to stagethe artists of the first episode
Produced by Rai’s Prime Time Entertainment Department in collaboration with Stand by me, it’s about a real talent show aimed at buskers. Acrobats, singers, jugglers, musicians: the cast is varied. In each of the five episodes, 13 contestants they take the stage to perform their discipline. All welcomed by the band directed by Maestro Luca Chiaravalli.
Each of them submits to the judgment of the public – i.e. a popular jury present in the studio and made up of 300 people – and the two VIP guests. The three best performances get a ticket to the final. Two are chosen by the public, while the third is at the discretion of the important passers-by. Up for grabs is a jackpot of 10,000 euros and the title of Best Street Artist in Italy.
The protagonists of the first episode are: the acrobats on swinging poles of the Company of Fools; the jugglers Giorgio Maria Laganà; Niccolo Nardelli and Giovanna Todisco; the duo formed by Naimana and Daniel, respectively opera singer and ventriloquist; the sand artist Mauro Masi.
There are also singers and musicians. So, the pianist David Stramaglia, who has been performing on the streets of London for years; the violinist Isaac Minert; the vocalist, but warehouse worker in life, Joe Bless; singer Martina Zaghi; the voice and violin duo Riccardo & Celine; the band Street Sharks; the No Funny Stuffjug band that combines traditional instruments with others made from adapted or modified objects.
Two episodes more than the first edition
Each of these buskers brings with them not only their talents, but also their own personal history, an extra element to win the hearts of the public and also of the guests called to judge. After all, it is the first time that a talent show has given space exclusively to street artists. A new, unusual experiment born from an idea of Carlo Conti and that turned out to be successful.
In fact, compared to the first edition – won by the Argentine guitarist Emanuel Diego Victor, busker in Turin – From street to stage extends by two episodes and anticipates the broadcast by three months. A sign of confidence on the part of Rai, which continues to bet on the format. Thanks to a new television proposal, but also to the conductor.
