Neither rejected Bremen’s offer: Fritz on poker with Niclas Füllkrug

Striker rejected Werder offer

Werder Bremen obviously does not necessarily expect national player Niclas Füllkrug to stay on the Weser. The club made the 30-year-old attacker an offer for an early contract extension. But Clemens Fritz, head of professional football at Werder, said that “foosball”: “We can only move within the economic framework that we can afford.” It is therefore considered unlikely that Füllkrug would sign a new working paper, and he is said to have rejected the offer made to him.

For Fritz, there is no question that Bremen want to continue working with the top scorer of the past Bundesliga season: “We want to extend Niclas, otherwise we would not have made him the offer,” emphasized the 42-year-old. “We also clearly communicated that we want to keep him.”

Füllkrug’s current contract runs until June 30, 2025. The center forward was recently associated with Italian club AC Florenz and league rival Bayer Leverkusen. In the “Werkself” there is a filling pitcher as a replacement for Patrik Schick (27), who has been absent for a longer period of time.

The SVW is actually dependent on achieving a transfer surplus this financial year. In the current transfer period, there has been a plus of around 3 million euros so far, but it does not have to stay that way in view of the further reinforcements required. Required income “does not necessarily have to come from a sale of Niclas. We can still generate income next summer,” said Fritz.
