Neighborhood dispute: Jacqueliena was stabbed at home, suspect denies everything

Jacqueliena was stabbed in her apartment in Helmond on Sunday, June 25. The suspect is her upstairs neighbor, 33-year-old Subhi A. from Syria. There has been a huge dispute between the two for some time now. Subhi stood before the judge on Tuesday and denied everything: “I just want to be free, I haven’t done anything.”

At the beginning of August, Jacqueliena told her story in detail to Omroep Brabant. She was not in court on Tuesday because it was ‘too heavy’.

“He pulled my hair so he could stab me.”

According to the victim, she has been arguing with her upstairs neighbor for a year and a half. From noise pollution to pissing from the balcony in her garden. At the end of June things got horribly out of hand. Jacqueliena was sunbathing when an ashtray suddenly hit her head.

She went inside and collapsed there. When she came to, it turned out that her upstairs neighbor had jumped from the balcony and was standing above her with a knife, she said earlier. “He pulled my hair so he could stab me properly. He shouted that he was going to kill me as he stabbed me.” Ultimately, Jacqueliena was stabbed five times in her arm, chest and under her chest.

“She sprayed her upstairs neighbor with a corrosive liquid.”

The public prosecutor suspects upstairs neighbor Subhi A. of attempted manslaughter. But A. denies everything. According to his lawyer, Jacqueliena herself is the one causing the nuisance. “She reports nuisance to the police every week, and only once was she right. She herself had to spend the night in jail because she sprayed her upstairs neighbor with a corrosive liquid.”

According to the suspect’s lawyer, his downstairs neighbor unfairly wants to shift all the blame onto A. “He called 911 himself because he heard screaming and thought he was being attacked.” The suspect does not want to go back to jail and wait for the trial ‘at home’. Home will no longer be in Trompstraat in Helmond, because the rental contract has been terminated.

“Jacqueliena’s blood was found on his arm”

“I just want to be free, I haven’t done anything. This determines my future, my everything,” A told the judge. But the court finds that so far everything points to Subhi A. “Blood from the victim was found in the home and on the balcony of the suspect. And Jacqueliena’s blood was also found on his arm,” the public prosecutor summarized.

“There are sufficient suspicions that he stabbed the victim with a knife,” the judge concluded. On December 19, it will be reconsidered whether A. will remain in custody pending the substantive hearing in court.
