Neighbor of ‘terror set’ from Opperdoes gets community service for assaulting neighbor

The neighbor of the ‘terror set’ from Opperdoes is sentenced to 160 hours of community service for assaulting his neighbor. In addition, the man of the police judge must transfer a sum of more than 3,600 euros. According to local residents, the neighbor had been bullied, harassed and attacked by the two women for years. In April, another confrontation broke out between the neighbors. Then the neighbor lost control and punched one of the women multiple times in the face and threw a rock through the windshield of their car.

During the hearing in Alkmaar, the first video was shown this afternoon in which the neighbor assaulted one of the women on Sunday 24 April. The evidence from the women clearly shows that the neighbor loses control and lashes out at the woman, grabbing her head and hitting the hood of the car several times. “I’ll kill you,” the neighbor yells at the woman. Eventually, the neighbor is pulled off the woman by local residents and the video stops.

“I’m sorry it went so wrong, but you can’t imagine where I’ve ended up in recent years”

“It is intense to see these images,” the neighbor tells the judge. “I’m sorry it went so wrong, but you can’t imagine where I ended up in recent years. They provoked me so much.”

Years of nuisance by couple

An earlier survey showed that the ‘terror set’ has been intimidating and harassing the neighborhood for eight years, according to local residents. The immediate neighbor, who has lived in Opperdoes since 2020, would be the biggest target. The nuisance was even so structural that the landlord of the house was appointed by the municipality urged to start a case against the pair.

At the end of August, a sub-district court ordered the landlord to equal and as a result, the ladies were forced to leave the rented house in September.

Broken nose after the blow

The neighbor’s lawyer says that her client has suffered a lot from the abuse. According to a doctor, her nose was probably broken by the blows, but that could no longer be concluded with certainty. This is because she had straightened her nose herself after the incident. During the right to speak, the woman clearly lets her aversion to the neighbor reverberate through the hall. “I think your act is cowardly and disgusting. You beat a chronically ill woman and slammed my head into the hood. You made our lives hell.”

The neighbor then informs the judge that he is the victim. “I’m deeply traumatized and I’ve been nothing but terrorized. I just wanted to buy a house and calmly build my life. This has been a horror story.”

Ladies before the judge

The couple was already in court in 2014, then because of a neighbor dispute in their hometown of Lelystad. The two eventually moved. Two years earlier, the relationship with their landlord in Nieuw-Vossemeer also turned into a conflict. The landlord drove a shovel into the couple’s garden.

The couple came to live in Opperdoes after Lelystad, where they quickly got into trouble with local residents. The house had shelves on the windows and cameras on the walls that the residents said they filmed and eavesdropped on.

Pronunciation

The neighbor said afterwards that he was not satisfied with the judge’s ruling. “I know full well that I did not act right and I regret that, but the ladies have made my life a real hell for years.” The neighbor declined to comment on the verdict after the hearing.
