She started her career in the 1950s on various theater stages in the West End, in central London. But her most famous role was that of Elizabeth Warden in the BBC series Keeping Up Appearances, known in our country as ‘Clean appearance’. There, Liz, a sweet character who quickly became nervous with her neighbor Hyacinth ‘Bouquet’ Bucket, was quick to spill her tea during visits. The British public service broadcaster aired 44 episodes and five seasons of the comedy series from 1990 to 1995.
Josephine Tewson also played Miss Davenport in the British sitcom Last of the Summer Wine and was seen sporadically in Midsomer Murders. She was last seen in a TV series in 2015. She was married to actor Leonard Rossiter for three years.
